Summary: VES is looking for a HSSE Engineer to join our team in Faridabad, India location. This person manages HSSE (Health, Safety, Security & Environmental) and advice and oversees compliance for assigned area. Promotes HSSE awareness and responsibility through safety meetings, communications, onsite visits, and training programs. Manages programs to minimize risk, injury, and loss. Manages the security of the manufacturing plants as necessary and applicable. Contributes to the global HSSE team regarding direction and continuous improvement of the company.

 

Follows all company and department policies and procedures with special consideration for safety.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

 

  • Coaches, supports, instructs, and ensures the commitment of local management to effectively operate at a high level of health, safety, and environmental capabilities.
  • Responsible for effective implementation of ISO 14001 & ISO 45001.
  • Leads the regional organization in contributing to and acting upon the OFI (Opportunity for Improvement) system.
  • Identifies and drafts HSSE initiatives with a focus on execution and appropriate KPIs. Develops and communicates the process for the annual review of HSSE performance. Analyzes incident and injury/illness data and adjusts the HSE focus to address any areas of concern.
  • Participates in standard incident investigations. Ensures complete investigation of severe incidents and injuries and prepare material and evidence for the organization’s use in hearings, lawsuits, and insurance investigations.
  • Compiles, consolidates, summarizes, and submits reports required by management and regulatory agencies.
  • Verifies compliance with all HSE regulations and ensures all necessary records are maintained and prepared according to established guidelines. Issues corrective actions as required. Develops tools to improve and support HSE reporting requirements.
  • Holds management reviews of corrective actions, evaluates against benchmarks, and develops, communicates, and executes action plans for improvement. Analyzes compliance data on an on-going basis and develops recovery plans as needed.
  • Develops, implements, and manages safety programs and employee training on safety policies, procedures, and regulations. Maintains the training certifications required for ISO/API compliance.
  • Oversees and helps in the execution of HSE process implementation, training, and regulatory requirements for NAM sales & operations (i.e. driver safety, field requirements, etc.)
  • Manages the participation in all required environment, health, and safety inspections. Provides inspectors with appropriate documents and identifies safety measures.
  • Monitors the safe and effective removal of physical, biological, and chemical hazards.
  • Manages the security of the India plant. Issues badge IDs to employees, temporary staff, and contractors. Maintains badge policy and access control for the India office and plant. Acts as Fire Safety Coordinator and interacts with building management. Conducts fire drills, maintains floor warden training list, and mobility impaired list in the event of a building evacuation.
  • Develops and implements procedures to improve HSE performance. Keeps abreast of changes to laws and regulations and ensures that the changes are incorporated into policies and procedures. Ensures that HSE policy and procedure manuals are available and current.

 

Education & Knowledge :

 

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • Recognized safety and/or environmental management certifications (e.g. CSP (Certified Safety Professional), NEBOSH (National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health), or OHST (Occupational Health and Safety Technologists) preferred.
  • Thorough knowledge of relevant HSSE procedures and regulations. Knowledge of appropriate KPI’s, leading and lagging indicators, and use of to manage HSSE.
  • Familiarity with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within oil & gas manufacturing and services preferred.
  • Sound understanding of business linkages and the ramifications that decisions can have
  • At least ten years of progressively more responsible experience in a manufacturing environment. Experience in a similar industry is desired.
